A student, parent and staff dashboard is the ideal landing page for your school, which acts like the intranet page most schools have, leading to a plethora of other services and documents normally used by a school of any size.

Student dashboard

Student dashboard offers schools an ability to create link categories and place an unlimited number of links into those categories. Link categories are used to group links into meaningful sections.

The links are displayed as cards. Each card features a thumbnail of a service it links through and a link to that service. The card can also be a link to a file for download. Links can be opened inside a new window or inside the same window. A popular set of links used by schools would feature various school services, IT services forms and policies and pages within the portal itself.

The student dashboard will also display the student timetable, daily notices (including attachments), a school calendar and forms for data collection.

If your school uses Canvas as the Learning Management System, the dashboard can also display recent feedback from teachers, a Canvas to-do lists, and students’ latest marks and grades. The canvas feedback includes links directly to Canvas and if your school features single sign-on on both Canvas and portal, the students can move seamlessly between the two.

There is also a section on the dashboard where the latest newsletters are displayed.

Parent dashboard

When a parent logs into PortalHQ, they will see all their children listed in the top left hand corner, with a student photo, and links to a student timetable and a link to student’s profile on canvas. They can navigate between different children profiles with a single click.

A parents will also see the latest newsletter issues, the links which school wants to present to parents (displayed as tiles), the last 30 days of canvas feedback, grades and a to-do list for each of their children. And in addition to that, the parent will also see any slips that they need to fill-in, the events that they may need to book into, the latest news which is flagged as featured, and any forms that they may have to fill in.

The parent dashboard also features links to school resources and the school calendar.

Staff Dashboard

Similar to student and parent dashboards, the staff dashboard also features main links to school services, forms and policies and pages within the portal. It also features school notices published to staff and upcoming events from the school calendar.

Customisations

  • Dashboards can have different layouts, such as LMS Centric layout or Notices Centric layout, depending on the school needs.
  • All of the images inside the tiles can be customised.
  • Link categories and the links inside the categories can be ordered.
  • Certain sections, such as calendar or news can be hidden from certain audiences.
  • A stylesheet can be embedded to further customise every single aspect of the whole portal, including dashboards. Your portal can look very different to every other PortalHQ instance.
